Hot spots

Everyone knows them: those little corners in the house where something is always lying around and chaos reigns. We call them "hot spots." They are nothing more than a place that always tends to accumulate items and where things are often put off for later. To get rid of these annoying spots from our daily lives for good, it's worth using a few simple tips.

There are simply places in the apartment that seem to have a certain magical charm for things. They become traps for chaos more often than other places. Probably the most typical place is the dresser in the entryway. Everything is gathered here - from car keys, through letters, to hand-painted pictures by children. But there are also often piles of mail and magazines on the dining table. However, the most famous is probably the "chair" for clothes. Stairs are also a popular place to quickly put things that need to be moved, for example, from downstairs to upstairs. Most of the time, people think: "I don't have time for this right now" or "I'll put it off for later." However, the problem often is that as soon as one place gets filled, we simply move to another and put things there, and suddenly the whole apartment is cluttered with "hot spots." Unfortunately, this quickly leaves a disordered overall impression, and no one really wants that.

Thanks to these 5 tips, you can finally get rid of hot spots:

1. Identify all hot spots
The first thing to do is to find out exactly where the places that often become flashpoints are located. It is also important to check this from time to time, as new hot spots can always arise.
2. Clean all hot spots at once.
It is best to do this using garbage bags or large boxes. All items are thrown into the bags at once and then placed in the collection point. This could be, for example, a basement, garage, or utility room.
3. Determine permanent places
Now you need to go through each bag individually to check what items have accumulated in the hot spots. Then you need to find a permanent place for each item, e.g., a designated tray for all keys, a holder for all letters and documents, or simply a specific spot on a shelf or in a drawer. Some items do not need a permanent place at all and are not needed at all? The better.
4. Always put things back in place immediately
Now you need to be consistent. To avoid creating new chaos and hot spots, you must strictly adhere to the rule of not putting anything down "just for a moment" so that you can put it away later. Because then everything starts all over again. Whether the item is put down here or directly in its place does not really save time. Tip: Perform tasks immediately if they take less than 1 minute!
5. Decorate the former hot spot
To avoid the re-emergence of hot spots, you can use this place for a decorative, valuable item, such as a picture frame, vase, or small piece of art.
